Until you taste this tomato sauce you cannot imagine how amazingly delicious it is! This super simple, quick sauce is my go to for pizza, pasta and spaghetti squash. The key is in using real San Marzano tomatoes, fresh garlic and fresh basil. San Marzano tomatoes are a little sweeter and meatier than other varieties. With a taste that’s as close to a fresh tomato as canned can get, they can really up your sauce game . If you substitute any of the ingredients it will still be good but definitely not the same.
I make this sauce in my Ninja bullet but any blender or stick blender will do. This is what is sometimes referred to as “raw sauce” in the pizza world. This isn’t just for convenience — a no-cook sauce will actually taste better on your pizza, giving you that fresh, zippy tomato flavor, even after it has been baked in a super hot oven.
I usually use it without cooking at all. Occasionally I will cook it for 5-10 min to mellow out the garlic flavor if I’m using it on something that requires no additional cooking like pasta.
If you’d like a thicker sauce, strain the tomatoes from their juices before blending.
